Introduction to links courses: windy, hard ground, thick rough, gorse, no yard markers

Very tight. I started 9-7-8-7 to lose 10 shots, parred 17-18. Lost many balls.

Good course, a little more wide open than others at St. A, but the same style. Fun. Windy.

Probably the best course to play at St. A. Tough but fair.

Went out at 6 PM after already playing 36, both hit drives, each played the better one. Dropped balls, hit from bunkers, practiced. "We’re fucking around on the New Course!" Saw US players from Juniors World Cup out practicing. Nice swings. So windy this day, on a 273-yd downwinder, we both drove the green (and were yelled at for shouting when almost making eagle putts), and on 150-yard upwinder, Jordan couldn’t reach it with a driver. Ball goes out, ball goes up, ball comes back.

Our favorite St. A course is nice to us. Jordan’s 39 back nine is the best of the trip.

Jordan’s 53 back nine is the worst of the trip, courtesy of 4 shots in Hell’s Bunker. DoG teammates watched, played fantasy golf for 6 holes. Full story available.

Carnage at Carnoustie II: It Could Happen To You. Our final round made us miss a frisbee game. The course was very penal. My balls had sand-seeking radar, and I wasted more shots in the sand here than in the other rounds combined. From our tees, the course was fair if you kept it in play, though. Pretty good round, other than 18. (As in, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?")
